Hi All,
Not sure where the best place is to ask this question, but thought I’d try in here first 🙂
I’m a Senior Improvement Advisor at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS FT and have completed the IHI Improvement Advisor Professional Development programme in July 2022. I am now considering completing a masters course and wondered what type of Masters courses other QI/CI colleagues have completed out of interest? Or any that colleagues could recommend?
Thanks Ben 🙂
Have a look at: https://www.quality.org/cqi-accredited-degrees
Amazing thanks Thomas 🙂
If you are looking for a course that is acceptable for quality management outside of the NHS I strongly recommend the CQI accredited courses. Also, of course, most useful inside the NHS as well. The CQI also have their own membership examinations and courses as an alternative to a degree.
Buckingham offer a Lean masters – they’ll be taking on a new cohort in September.
I study on this course at Uni of Bristol: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/taught/msc-strategy-change-and-leadership/ It’s cross-sector so has broaden my mind beyond healthcare, which has been good. Downside is some of it has been a bit businessy, but overall I’ve learnt a lot and feel much more confident leading strategic change. The CI team and UHBW teach on this online MSc, which has a QI/change mgt module: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/medical-school/study/postgraduate/msc-healthcare-management/ Also Imperial and Henley Business School are running a L6 I think apprenticeship in Improvement, but there is also a L7 Improvement Leader one that looks good, both on Salisbury Framework
I did the MSC in Total Quality Management and Organisational Excellence at Sheffield.
Have you explored with a coach what you want to get from doing a masters?
