Thank you to everyone who joined in the discussion on Friday to think together about the concept of QMS.  Thanks to @emmaadams, @michaelcanavan and Matthew Mezey for supporting.

For me, I noticed two patterns in discussions.  One was about the challenge of shifting from QI as one of many approaches in the organisation to QI as the primary ethos and management method.  I also noticed different meanings of what QMS translates to in practice.

I’d love to hear what others noticed.

    • I don’t think there was an understanding of the difference between quality management and general organisation management. See: https://www.quality.org/knowledge/about-us
The CQI was established over 100 years ago.

    • Thanks for creating the space for us to have this conversation Liz and colleagues.
As always the conversation was valuable in sharing perspectives from very different contexts that helped find new ways to understand and articulate QMS to audiences outside of the ‘traditional’ QI teams. Something that resonated with me was the concept of a structured and intentional approach to ‘collective responsibility’ for improving quality. The challenge is to bring it to life in a way that engages and includes rather than being a theoretical ‘expert’ framework that doesn’t mean anything to people and their everyday experience whether that’s a Chief Finance Officer or a pharmacy technician. Really helpful conversation Thankyou.
