Hello, I’m a member of WHO Patients for Patient Safety Ireland. We would appreciate your input into an application for funding for a Medication Safety app, empowering empower patients to know and understand their medications – one of the WHO recommendations from the WHO for World Patient Safety Day 2022 – theme “Medication Without Harm”. At present there is no app that is free and that stores all data on the patients’ mobile phone, and that meets the WHO requirements, so this app will be of benefit worldwide.

In particular, we welcome your comments on the barriers to adoption for the app (of course those who do not have smartphones will not be able to use it – a paper version is available through pharmacies, GP Surgeries, hospitals, community health, etc.)

You can review the idea on https://q.health.org.uk/idea/2023/an-app-empowering-patients-to-keep-their-medication-lists/

Some in this group have already provided valuable input, which has proved to be very useful – thank you.

    • Hi Tiberius,
I’ve been seeing your posts and I hope you get the feedback you need. But just as a general guideline, what you’re doing is not the most effective way to communicate with Qs.

When you post something on a SIG wall, you gotta make some connection with the theme of that SIG. This post here is jsut a copy of your others, not mentioning Community Hospitals at all – so this one, and all the others will likely be ignored.

If you focused on a couple of highly-relevant SIGs and took the time to write something focused for those audiences, your chances of engaging in conversation and getting the feedback you need would be much higher 🙂

Here’s a video with other best practices around forming meaningful connection with the Q Community: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NBI-1-0Kn0

      I hope it helps!

      • Thank you for taking the time to provide that advice – as I am new to this, it is very useful. Patients for Patient Safety Ireland is made up of patients who have in the past suffered harm in a healthcare setting, and we collaborate with health services to try and improve patient safety, on a purely voluntary basis. As you have spotted, I am a complete amateur in this business, and I do what I can in addition to a demanding job.

We believe passionately in this project. The feedback and input from patients has been very positive. Your comments are very valid, much appreciated and I will bear them in mind in future. Thank you.

    • Hi Tiberius,

I think I have commented on your app idea and it is something that could be very useful in a Community Hospital settings where out of hours admissions can be complicated by lack of access to information.

Great to have you on board in the group
