Fascinating webinar by the architects of Communities of Practice, Etienne and Beverley Wenger-Trayner. They were discussing their recent research into ‘systems conveners’ which put me very much in mind off the development of the Q network and the AHPQI group. I was wondering whether some of these concepts could be used as we go forward.

Systems conveners are people who take on a leadership role in developing connections and facilitating learning across a system (often with multiple organisations, groups, allegiances and boundaries). They have the ability to think and work in networks and systems, and understand but are able to open up boundaries. In our increasingly complex and networked world this ability is becoming more crucial for change and evolution. Systems convener characteristics include:
    *On a personal mission
    *Passionate and strategic
    *Can’t help joining the dots
    *Mavericks at the edge
    *At home everywhere and nowhere
    (ringing any bells)
Hopefully the slides and discussion board will be available soon.
