Biography

A registered nurse (BSc Distinction) with 14 years post qualification experience and 20 years health and social care sector experience covering the NHS, Voluntary and Independent sectors across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. My roles have included Head of Care and Therapies, CAMH Service Coordinator, Domiciliary Service Manager and Agency Nurse Manager. I have also run my own business delivering training and consultancy in Health & Social Care, Child Protection, Adult Safeguarding, Challenging Behaviour and Autism. With an interest in training and development, particularly in the further education sector, and with recent senior level experience in healthcare management, service development and health and social care recruitment, I have a unique insight in to the challenges of nurse recruitment and retention. Always looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to develop and learn new skills (as If relocating twice, running a business and keeping 2 small feral children alive isn’t challenge enough), in November last year, after undertaking some consultancy work with SureCert, I was offered a permanent role as Nurse Advisor and Business Development Lead. The opportunity to work in a start up with all it brings with it – working outside of my comfort zone, learning new skills, networking and the “all hands on deck” mentality was simultaneously terrifying and appealing. And I haven’t regretted a minute. With SureCert I am constantly on my toes, meeting potential clients, talking to the great and the good, building a brand and backing it all up with industry experience.  I need to use all the skill and expertise I have gained over the years to help drive forward a new business, ensuring that we are both agile and credible; evidencing our in depth knowledge of the sector we aim to revolutionise. I am currently working with stakeholders both locally, nationally and internationally to develop strategies to manage the current recruitment crisis. My role in SureCert comprises the following;

Advise on nurse recruitment processes, regulatory and legislative requirements, tenders and contracts for NI, ROI and UK markets
• Participate in product design and development
• Research market sectors and develop databases
• Develop sales pitches for clients, candidates and data providers
• Pitch to prospective clients
• Relationship and account management
• Network building and development
• Identify business development opportunities
• Plan and organise promotional events
• Blog writing, vlogging and social media marketing
• Plan and undertake focus groups
