I have recently been appointed a consultant anaesthetist at Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board with a special interest in obstetrics, quality improvement and clinical leadership. Prior to this I undertook a Clinical Leadership Fellowship with Wales School of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education.
Throughout my training I have been involved in QI at many levels including:
- Member of Quality Improvement Steering Group of Wales deanery
- Setting up an all Wales QI training programme for anaesthetists |(www.lincymru.org)
- Creating an online "hub" for trainees to engage with QI in Wales
- Improving the care of those undergoing inter-hospital transfer with a head injury
- Optimising the care of the anaemic ante-natal patient
Since becoming a consultant I have been chosen to be departmental QI lead. My current area of interest is looking at improving the peri-operative care of women undergoing caesarean section.
I look forward to working with and learning from other Q community members; sharing ideas and supporting each other in our Quality Improvement work.
