Perioperative Care – Prehabilitation SIG members may be interested in a helpful resource that I read this morning from The Patients Information Forum (PIF), looking at various forms of Patient empowerment and the role of technology

 In their news section they have publicised a new report by the NHS Confederation and Google Health, exploring  the role of technology in empowering patients to improve their health and wellbeing – (https://pifonline.org.uk/news/pif-aware-google-health-chatgpt-fact-checking/)

The report is based on a survey of more than 1,000 adults in the UK – a third of whom live with one or more long-term conditions – plus interviews with people with long-term conditions who have frequent interactions with the health system. It found people want to be empowered to improve their health and wellbeing.

Their news item also gives some useful links to collaborative studies, a video exploring why patients share their health stories and a health fact checking service run by the University of Galway in Ireland.
