I retired from healthcare nearly 8 years ago. I have a general nursing, theatre nursing, midwifery, health visiting and management background although I spent the last 15 years of my career working at regional and national level in a variety of posts; most recently with the National Patient Safety Agency. Since retirement I've undertaken project management for the Patients Association and taken on a number of volunteering roles. At the moment I am Chair of Healthwatch South Gloucestershire Advisory Group and their lead person for 'Enter and View'; a Public Contributor to the West of England Academic Health Science Network Patient Safety Collaborative Board (PSCB) and a member of the South West Clinical Senate Citizens Assembly and the Senate Council. The Enter and View work is focussed on Care Homes and improving the 'lived experience' of residents, and I'm interested in patient safety/quality improvement work that the PSCB is taking forward with general practice/primary care.
