Biography

Charles Kpodo MSc NISP RMN ACIM FHEA has over 17 years clinical experience including senior nursing leadership roles in a variety of mental health settings within the NHS and in Higher Education Institutions.

He has led and implemented a number of quality improvement projects and pioneered non medical prescribing in a mental health trust. As part of the nursing and governance directorate team, he led on embedding quality and safety standards within teams and departments across the organisation and delivered a variety of educational programmes to a wider audience to enhance their professional development and learning.

He is currently a senior lecturer in clinical human factors at the University of Bedfordshire and is very passionate in designing and delivering cutting edge educational programmes in improvement science and leadership to help healthcare organisations  improve their capacity for improvement as an improvement coach. He is a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission and a nominated Q cohort founding participant of the East Academic Health Science Network.

He has presented at local, regional and national conferences and he is currently undertaking a professional doctorate in leading a realistic evaluation in healthcare improvement and organisational learning at Middlesex University. He is a qualified registered Mental Health Nurse & Independent Nurse Prescriber with the Nursing Midwifery Council, an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy.
