Caroline is an international leader in her professional field of genetic counselling and has recently joined UCLan as a Guild Senior Research Fellow. She brings a new focus on applied healthcare genetic research which will complement the existing research strengths of the University.
She has maintained a joint clinical and academic research career. Her PhD was from the University of Liverpool in service models for familial breast cancer. Her post-doctoral career at the University of Manchester has involved a European survey of education provision for non-genetic health professionals. Other post-doctoral work has included evaluation projects mainstreaming genetic care into clinical specialties and differing models of service delivery for genetic counsellors.
she currently holds an Hon. Research Fellow contract with Liverpool Women's Hospital and is leading an international team on a systematic review of the literature on interventions to improve access to genetic and genomic services. She is also leading the National Service Evaluation of the 100,000 Genome Project consent documentation project on behalf of the North West Coast Genomic Medicine Centre.
