Moving past backlogs: how can a focus on data help to ensure equitable access to services? Call for participants

Sign up to take part in Action Learning sessions to share your experiences of working on projects that are improving access to care through a focus on data.

Through Q’s previous insight projects, we’ve explored the role improvement has played in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery. While there have been some examples of great practice, we’ve also heard concerns that data is not being used to its full potential to make progress on addressing health inequalities.

With more people waiting to access care than ever, timely, equitable access is a priority across the system. From what we’ve heard from the Q community and beyond, we believe that a focus on data supports us to address inequalities, reduce backlogs and improve access to care.

We’re looking to hear from you about the work you’re doing that uses data to address inequalities and improve access to care. Through what we hear in this project we will share actionable insights that can support us to collectively address these challenges.

How can I get involved?

We know that this work is challenging so as part of this insight project, we’re offering participants the opportunity to take part in Action Learning together.

Over the course of five months, you’ll commit to meeting monthly with your peers for a couple of hours and have the opportunity to:

  • learn from and be inspired by others going through similar challenges
  • bring different perspectives to a problem
  • think through ideas and reflect
  • build supportive networks that can help you to learn from and support others
  • raise the profile of the work you and your organisation are doing.

Can I participate?

To participate, you need to be:

  • a Q member
  • working on or scoping a project that uses data to support improvement to address inequalities and focuses on improving equitable access to care
  • able to commit to a two-hour monthly session from June to October 2022
  • committed to sharing your experiences with the wider Q community.

We’re particularly interested in work that is taking a holistic look at backlogs in care. For example, this could include projects that explore how to manage waiting lists and prioritise care for those from areas of deprivation, or targeted interventions to support people waiting for care.

Not sure if your work is what we are looking for? Please contact Q’s Insight Manager Joanna Scott to discuss.
