How to write a great application for Q Exchange

As we approach the opening of applications for Q Exchange 2020, we're sharing a guide designed to help Q members write a great application.

In advance of Q Exchange 2020 opening for applications on Tuesday 1 September we want to help every Q member have the best chance of developing a great application and securing funding.

“Feedback is the fuel that drives improved performance.”

– Eric Parsloe

The theme for this year’s Q Exchange is ‘Embedding positive changes emerging through new collaborations or partnerships during COVID-19’. To help Q members to write a great application, Sarah Campbell has analysed the feedback from all of the applications received in 2019, and has used this to write a guide covering what makes a well-written and well-designed application for Q Exchange.

This guide complements the three feedback webinars conducted as part of Q Exchange 2019. These webinars, hosted by Anna Burhouse, covered some common themes that came up during the assessments in 2019. Each webinar also features a presentation from different Q members who were previously unsuccessful in securing Q Exchange funding, but have made the most of the feedback they gained from Q Exchange to improve and successfully deliver their projects. You can also have a look at how all the 2019 winning teams are doing by checking their updates on their project pages.

Feedback is a really key part of Q Exchange and, as a community of improvers, Q members don’t need much convincing to appreciate the importance of feedback

Feedback is a really key part of Q Exchange and, as a community of improvers, Q members don’t need much convincing to appreciate the importance of feedback. Whether that’s patient feedback to improve service pathways, or reviewing performance during appraisals, feedback helps us become more aware of ourselves, and our work, and ultimately helps us improve. We hope this information is helpful and provides some hints, tips and inspiration.

We are opening for applications on Tuesday 1 September and look forward to seeing your project ideas this year. We are also looking for assessors to help shortlist Q Exchange 2020 projects, if you’d like to be involved please fill in our expression of interest form.
