How to document NHS work processes: the foundation for Quality Management
Dr Thomas Rose will explain why it’s so important to document work processes, how to do it, and why they remain so misunderstood.
About this session
This online session will explain why we need to document our work processes – outlining three of the most important reasons. It will also clarify what a documented process isn’t: explaining the difference between a clinical process and a clinical procedure.
It will answer other commons questions too: Why is there so much misunderstanding of ‘process’ in the NHS? How is a process defined? How do you implement CQC inquiry recommendations?
Dr Rose has also been researching ‘Lessons Learnt’ from NHS inquests and inquiries and will outline the crucial role a ‘Process Approach’ can play.
The core of the session will be about how to document a process, and more importantly, how to reach a consensus on what it looks like. The usual guidance doesn’t help. It will answer: who should design the process map? Who should produce the final documentation? Who is responsible for the Continual Improvement (CI) of the Process? What Personal Computer (PC) applications do we need to create process maps? Who should do it? What is the process?
A downloadable workbook will be provided to all registrants.
This session is jointly organised by the Process Visualisation in the NHS and Quality Management in health care Q Groups.
