About Q Lab

The Q Improvement Lab is a new initiative bringing together Q members and others to work on complex issues affecting the UK health and care system. Drawing on best practice from improvement science, the wider global Lab movement and methods for social change and innovation, the Lab will take a highly collaborative approach, working on each topic for around 9 months to develop new solutions and insights.

About the workshop

The workshop will consider the broad theme of ’empowering people to manage their own health and care needs’ – a theme which was voted for by members of the Q community. We hope to leave the workshop with further areas for the Lab to explore – with opportunities to take forward, rather than with ‘answers’ or ‘solutions’ to be implemented.

We want this workshop to feel different to many other meetings and events you may have attended on this subject. People from a variety of backgrounds and sectors have been invited, bringing a wealth of experience and ideas into the room. Divergence and diversity will be key; participants will need to come with an open mind and be ready to engage with perspectives and insights that might be new and different.

For attendees, the workshop will be an opportunity to:

  • Meet and network with colleagues from other sectors who are interested in this topic
  • Learn more about this theme from others, sharing insights and ideas
  • Take part in a collaborative and creative way of thinking about a complex issue
  • Be part of shaping the future direction of this theme as the first Q Lab project

If this sounds like your thing, we would love for you to join us.
