Mindfulness SIG: Supporting health and care staff through the pandemic with meditation

Mindfulness practice has been shown to have positive effects on stress and anxiety, but also boosts creativity, empathy and resilience.

3 Sep 2021
12:30 – 13:30

Zoom

This webinar has three parts:

  • We will start as usual with a led mindfulness practice.
  • Then we will hear from Barbara Doeleman van Veldhoven, Director at BFC Compassionate Care & Mindful Medicine. This organisation started The International Compassion Community for People in Health and Care a Dutch initiative who since the start of the pandemic are offering daily meditation sessions specifically to health and care staff. Having started this in the Netherlands, she is now working with Prof Michael West and others to bring this to the UK. Barbara will talk about their particular focus on healthcare staff, learnings from the past year, and the wish to bring it forward globally.
  • At the end, there will be space to connect with other members of the group and talk about how we implement mindfulness practice into our teams and organisations.
