The Scottish Government’s Children and Young People Improvement Collaborative (CYPIC) supports Children and Young People’s Services in Scotland to accelerate better outcomes using collaboration and a systematic approach to improvement. Their work programme is underpinned by Quality Improvement methodology (QI) and is diverse, reflecting the complexity of the issues they work with.

CYPIC’s key activities include: providing intensive improvement support programmes around thematic areas; improvement coaching training, communication and engagement events to promote good QI practice and providing direct support to community planning partnerships.

CYPIC has been using OutNav, evaluation software developed by Matter of Focus and underpinned by contribution analysis, since 2018 with a firm focus on learning for improvement. In this webinar Franca MacLeod (Principal Research Officer, Children and Families Analysis, Scottish Government) will talk through some of the evaluation challenges the CYPIC team has encountered when evaluating complex QI initiatives, and how they have sought to address these through implementing OutNav and aspects of the Matter of Focus approach. Franca will talk through their OutNav journey from set up to rethinking data collection, analysis and reporting, and will reflect on lessons learnt.

This webinar is a live event, co-hosted by Ailsa Cook from Matter of Focus, with an opportunity to ask questions. This webinar will be of interest to anyone leading or evaluating improvement work and looking to systematically embed approaches to learning and evaluation for improvement.
