‘Brave New Work’ bookclub discussion: how to reinvent your organisation (7pm, Sept 11, Zoom video meeting)

Join what promises to be an enthralling book discussion on how to reinvent our workplaces.

11 Sep 2019

Zoom video call - online/phone (all welcome) *7pm*

Join members of the Q Community’s ‘Reimagining Health & Care’ group, and others, to discuss Aaron Dignan’s inspiring new book Brave New Work: Are You Ready to Reinvent Your Organisation?

The book share the stories of dozens of ‘People Positive’ and ‘Complexity Conscious’ organisations, in health, social care and elsewhere – and how to turn your organisation into one.

Example organisations include the Dutch self-managed community nursing organisation Buurtzorg, which has 14,000 healthcare staff, no managers and an administrative backoffice of under 50 staff.

Aaron shares a 12-domain ‘Operating Systems Canvas’ through which to see our organisations, and to change them.

The book draws on the growing research about organisations that are pioneering more open and enlivening structures – and cultures that make it safe to challenge, learn and grow together – seen in books like Reinventing Organisations and An Everyone Culture.

The session will be introduced by Kevin Snowball, Chief Executive of an established charity – We Care Home Improvements – which is currently reinventing itself as a self-managed organisation.

And you may have seen Kevin amongst the 4 people at the centre of an absorbing ‘Fishbowl’ conversation on ‘Radical Models of Leading and Learning’ at March’s ‘Next Stage Health, Care and Public Services – from thinking to practice’ conference, organised by Reimagining Health & Care and the RSA.

It has been jointly organised with Annie Francis, who is experienced in leading a self-managed organisation and is a member of NHS England’s National Maternity Review.

Put down your Jilly Cooper, you know who you’re reading on the beach this summer!  😉
