I joined West Yorkshire Metropolitan Ambulance Service in 2004 as a Primary Care Assistant. Moved on to be an Emergency Medical Technician in 2006. I then joined HART in 2009 before qualifying as a Paramedic in 2011. I left Yorkshire in 2017 and moved to Ireland where I worked with a private ambulance service initially. I then moved to NIAS in November 2017 working at Enniskillen and then Omagh.
I took part in the Safety, Quality and Experience course with the South Eastern Trust. My project focused on increasing awareness of PJ Paralysis to ambulance crews, getting them to transfer more patients on chairs or encouraging them to walk more. It gave me an insight into QI an insight in to Human Factors and how they affect patient and staff safety.
I now work in the Republic of Ireland working for the State Claims Agency as a Clinical Risk Advisor.
