Biography

Following a successful 30 year career as a Project Manager in both the public and private sector, Trevor retired in 2006 and now spends much of his time working for a number of charitable organisations. As an ongoing cardiac patient, he became a Heart Advocate for the British Heart Foundation and has been involved in many campaigns to raise awareness of the risks and causes of chronic heart disease. In 2010, Trevor lobbied the Government to support the BHF’s manifesto for a new heart plan and in 2012, Trevor represented the BHF in Westminster to launch a report examining the priorities for the Government’s new strategy for tackling cardiovascular diseases across the UK. In 2013 Trevor was involved as a Lay Assessor for the Keogh Review and now represents patients in the Care Quality Commission inspections. Trevor is a Patient Representative for the Complex & Invasive Cardiac Clinical Reference Group and is a member of the Cardiovascular Strategic Clinical Network in the East of England. Trevor has recently been appointed President Elect for Cardiovascular Care Partnership UK. As part of an ongoing commitment in representing the patient, Trevor attended the first Patient Leadership Programme, which was developed, jointly by National Voices and The Centre for Patient Leadership. Trevor Co Chairs the East of England Citizen’s Senate and is developing relationships with the Clinical Networks, Clinical Commissioning Groups and Local Government Networks, to promote the public voice. Trevor is motivated by the excellent care he received following two heart attacks. ‘I owe my survival to the selfless acts of so many in the NHS and I benefitted from an outstanding health service. ‘I want to ensure that everybody has the opportunity that I had. I am passionate about using my experience as a patient to develop, improve and deliver the best possible outcomes’
