Biography

Sarah is Chief Executive of the British Society for Rheumatology, the leading membership society for rheumatology professionals in the UK. She oversees strategic implementation and organisational governance. Sarah was previously Director of Practice and Quality at the Society, leading on quality improvement (including audit and accreditation), national registries, guidelines, journals and external affairs.  She joined BSR in January 2021 after 3 years as Operations Director for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) working to professionalise quality improvement, patient safety and patient involvement. Sarah also played a key role in building the RCPs base in the north of England by working with local fellows and members, stakeholders, and communities.

Sarah has a background in policy, research, and programme management with a focus on improving care for patients, building an understanding of the healthcare system, and what works to improve it.

Sarah is Chair of the External Trustee Board for Manchester Metropolitan University Students' Union and a trained action learning set facilitator.
