Operations Director Quality Improvement and Patient Safety

Sarah is Operations Director for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) a post she took up at the RCPs new offices in Liverpool in August 2017. RCP QI and Patient Safety aims to professionalise quality improvement, patient safety and patient involvement so that they are a fundamental part of modern professional practice. Sarah also plays a key role in building the RCPs base in the north of England by working with local fellows and members, stakeholders, and communities.
Sarah has a background in policy and programme management but all with a focus on improving care for patients, and building an understanding of the healthcare system and what works to improve it. During 8 years with the RCP, Sarah has held the positions of Revalidation Strategic Programme Manager and Future Hospital Programme Manager.
Prior to the RCP, Sarah worked for the Health Foundation managing their flagship research and development programme and developing new ways of communicating research and evaluation findings. This role came off the back of 5-years with the Health Foundation working to shape and influence national healthcare policy.
