Biography

Sarah started her career in 1998 as a Registered Mental Health Nurse after completing an Advanced Diploma in Nursing at Sheffield University. After qualifying Sarah’s nursing experience was mainly in community mental health nursing.

Between 2004 and 2009 Sarah held several Service Manager roles which included managing Adult and Older Adult Community Mental Health services and Early Intervention Services.

During the period of 2009 to 2013 Sarah held several senior operational roles covering Adult and Older Adult urgent care services, Forensic and Rehab, and Older adult community services.

In 2013 Sarah moved into the Role of General Manager for urgent care mental health services which involved cross system working with Acute Care and system partners.

In 2015 Sarah was successful in being appointed to the role of Assistant Director of Nursing and Clinical Practice and portfolio included leading on the Safer Staffing Strategy, Reducing Restrictive Interventions Strategy and Clinical and Professional Practice Standards.

Since 2017 Sarah has been working as a mental health system improvement advisor for NHS E/I and is currently the mental health workstream lead for the Beneficial Changes Network.

During Sarah’s Career she has gained a number qualification including a 1st Class BA (hons) degree in Business Management, a Post Graduate Certificate in Business Management and an MSc in Healthcare Leadership. Sarah’s  Masters dissertation being on the impact of effective leadership and emotional labour in Mental Health Nursing.

Sarah is passionate about mental health nursing and leading improvement within mental health services.
