Consultant Anaesthetist, AMD Quality Improvement
North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation TrustEngland - North East and North Cumbria
I have worked as a Consultant anaesthetist in North Cumbria for over 10 years. I spent about 5 years as Clinical Director for anaesthetics before moving to a Patient Safety CD role across the Surgical Division. I am proud to be part of Health Foundation Generation Q Cohort 9. I am particularly interested in driving forward sharing learning from incidents - and more particularly near misses across specialities and professions. I am committed to development of a culture of learning and not blame from incidents, and see a Human Factors based approach to investigation as the way forward and involvement, and that breaking down inter-professional barriers is part of this process.
Q Exchange ideas
We plan to use safety culture cards with all our teams across acute, community and social care to provide a common language and basis to build quality improvement projects across bourndaries.
