Biography

Ruth leads the Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) programme in Gynaecology and Breast department at University College London Hospitals (UCLH).  She is responsible for the programme’s sustainability and future development.

Ruth graduated in Nursing from Queens University, Belfast, in 2001 and worked in the Royal Victoria hospital, Belfast, before moving to London where she worked at St Thomas’ hospital, St George’s hospital and now UCLH specialising in surgical and intensive care nursing.

Ruth formed and chairs the trust ERAS group at UCLH; the group represents 8 specialities running ERAS programmes.  The group share learning, operational challenges and collaborate in quality improvement strategies, supporting all programmes to achieve optimum results.  In 2018 Ruth completed a 1 year Quality Improvement Fellowship at University College London Partners during this time delivered a Surgery School pilot and prehabilitation feasibility study for Gynaecology and Breast oncology patients at UCLH.
