    • I have been playing around with this, this morning and found you can do this using Google Slides rather than miro which takes away that need for an additional log in. As long as you set the slide sharing access to ‘anyone with the link’ and ‘editor’ you should just be able to copy the link into the chatbox as with jamboard / other exercises

    • Thank you Lou, this is really helpful. We haven’t decided which PDSA game we are going with yet but I am collecting suggestions to test out. I do like the ‘construction’ ones. So far ideas consist of: Grand Designs house build; peg solitaire; paper aeroplane; coin spin; virtual Mr Potato Head, marshmallow tower.
We think whatever we choose needs to demonstrate these core elements:
      1. The value of testing to increase learning and adaptation of ideas
      2. The value of small tests performed rapidly
      3. The value of prediction as it strengthens learning
      4. Time series data
      5. The importance of PDSA to build will and engagement in the whole team
      Best wishes,
      Sarah

      • Hi Sarah, I am really interested in learning more about the examples you have mentioned above (especially virtual Mr Potato Head….)
We used Lou’s Grand Design example and it went down well as I found the coin spinning exercise more difficult to control. It’s still really worthwhile hearing what has worked for other teams.
        Thanks,
        Claire

      • Hi Claire,
We haven’t tested any of these examples yet, apart from marshmallow tower, which we used in the past. The problem with the marshmallow tower was that iterative PDSA cycles were less obvious than with Mr Potato Head. Also this is a lot more fun and meaningful in a group than individually. I have just been collecting notes on these examples ready for us to test. Here’s some links to online Potato Head, Peg Solitaire and Marshmallow tower:
        http://mrpotatohead.play.scriptmania.com/
https://www.webgamesonline.com/peg-solitaire/index.php (this came from Kate Pryde in this discussion group)
Marshmallow Tower – Get yourself 1 yard of tape, 1 yard of string, 20 pieces of spaghetti (uncooked, of course), scissors and one marshmallow.
Put all the materials on the table and set the time stopper on 18 minutes. Within those 18 minutes you should try to build as high tower as possible from the spaghetti and put a marshmallow on top. Measure how tall the tower was in the end.
Now you should watch this video:

      • Hi Sarah,
The interactive Mr Potato Head is AMAZING!!!!
What a find, thanks for sharing.
        Claire

    • Thank you Lou for this – looks like a great exercise to practice facilitating : )

    • Sarah

When you’ve done the on line Mr Porato head have you created a version for them to copy and then got them to PDSA improving time to make etc etc in same way would with the real one?

    • Thanks Claire and Kate. I can’t take credit for this, it was my colleague Scott Poole who found it. He suggested we did it as a live interactive team exercise where the builder has the pieces but not the intended image and has to assemble them with voice instructions from colleagues (who do have the image we have created) and progressively get quicker and more accurate as per the usual game. At the time we were thinking we’d get the builder to share their screen on skype. We haven’t tested yet but will certainly feedback if and when we do.
