Biography

Laura graduated from the internationally-renowned University of Edinburgh with a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences: Anatomical Sciences in 2001, prior to completing a clinical MSc in Physiotherapy in 2003.

After a short time working as a rotational Physiotherapist, Laura specialised in Paediatrics, developing a clinical interest in developmental neurology and, additionally, an interest in eHealth and data.

Laura project-managed the implementation of an electronic Patient Administration System across her community paediatric service before embarking on the NHS Education for Scotland ‘Digital Health Leadership Programme’ in 2016. As a graduate of this programme, Laura went on to implement several additional eHealth tools to improve staff efficiency and patient appointment communication.

Towards the end of 2017 Laura was appointed National AHP Advisor for National Services Scotland, and tasked with implementing a Minimum National Dataset for all AHP staff across Scotland. Her role has recently transferred to the new Scottish public health body, Public Health Scotland.

Laura is a fellow of the FCI, a member of the PRSB Advisory Board, Digital AHP Steering Group, Digital and Informatics Physiotherapy Group, and Informatics Vice-chair on the Scottish Digital NMAHP Steering Group.
