Biography

Kate is the Assistant Director of Policy, Strategy and Public Affairs at the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO), overseeing the research, policy, strategy, user/public engagement, and parliamentary engagement programmes. Kate leads on using the learning from complaints about the NHS to drive improvement in policy and practice in healthcare services.

Prior to joining the PHSO, Kate worked at in the strategy unit of the Care Quality Commission, and as Special Policy Advisor to the Chief Executive. Her previous roles include Deputy Head of Policy and Strategy at the Royal College of Physicians and Policy Manager at Oldham Council. Through these roles, Kate led on a range of local, regional and national policy programmes and partnerships.

Before making the move into a career in public service, Kate was a journalist and copywriter. She also has lived experience as a long-term user of health services and as a carer.
