I work as the risk and governance lead for a busy NHS Radiotherapy department and have a key role as the quality manager. I coordinate all the activities required to meet the quality standards set for running the service. I ensure that this quality is consistent and meets both external and internal requirements. My role is concerned with monitoring and advising on the performance of the quality management system, producing data, auditing and reporting on performance, using metrics to comply with patient safety standards and Radiation protection. I also look after staff and patient safety within the department, assessing risks and ensuring developments are project managed to provide a safe environment.
