Biography

Establishing a new national health service improvement function

  • Working with all who use and provide health care
  • To enable and implement improvements so that all people have the right care, at the right time, in the right place, in line with their needs and preferences.

Previous work

  • Leading National QPS Intelligence team to analyse, interpret and present qualitative and quantitative data to inform better decision making and drive improvements in quality and patient safety and enable others to use their data to generate enhanced insights.  Including collaborating with research partners on quality and patient safety and designing the requirements for a quality and patient safety surveillance system.
  • Using QI methods to establish Ireland's Contact Management Programme, and led design of clinical process and ICT system.
  • Specialist in Public Health Medicine focused on health protection and alcohol.
  • Deputy CMO, supporting establishment of National Clinical Effectiveness Committee to prioritize and assure national guidelines and audits, and use of  national hospital data to review quality of care.
