David is the national Director of Improvement Products and Services at NHS England and Improvement. His portfolio includes the Model Hospital/Model Health System, analytical digital products and a team of improvement analysts supporting clinical improvement and systems development.

David leads the development of digital information services particularly to support senior decision makers (from ward to board) to identify unwarranted variations and to improve quality and productivity. David has 20 years’ experience in health information, analytics, technology and security in commercial, academic and NHS environments.

Prior to joining NHS Improvement, David was the Executive Director at a leading international health information company (Dr Foster). David has also held Non-Exec board positions across healthcare commissioning organisations in London. He has a PhD from UCL, London and MSc from Toronto, Canada. He continues to enjoy research and Chairs the Advisory Board for a major research council Big Data investment held by UCL, Oxford, Leeds and Liverpool universities.
