Over the last few years I have had a varied career. My clinical background is as a consultant ophthalmologist. I have also been involved in service redesign and have led the development of much closer working relationships between community optometrists and hospital ophthalmologists in my previous job. I am Associate Postgraduate Dean for Appraisal and Revalidation at NHS Education for Scotland.

In addition I have held leadership roles as Deputy Director of Medical Education, Clinical Lead for Ophthalmology, Clinical Appraisal Lead and Associate Medical Director. In all of these I have always had a focus on patient experience and quality and safety of patient care and have been involved in many quality improvement projects. As well as having a strong patient focus I am also passionate about supporting and developing staff. It gives me great pleasure to see people I have been working with thrive and celebrate their achievements.
