Originally from Kilkenny in Ireland, Brian joined the University in January 2018. He is a registered dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council, and has experience working as a clinical dietitian in hospitals in Ireland, London and the Midlands, England. Currently, he is an honorary senior dietitian at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). At the British Dietetic Association (BDA) he chairs the England Board and is a Director of the BDA Council. He also currently sits on the European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians (EFAD) Research and Evidence Based Practice Committee.

Brian has spent some time volunteering in India. His voluntary work was part of a wider nutritional surveillance project for Seva Mandir, a community development non-profit organisation in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan, India. Prior to joining the University, he served as a Lecturer in Dietetics at the University of Hertfordshire.
