Biography

Bettina trained as a pharmacist in Germany and has worked in different healthcare sectors in England for the last 16 years.
Bettina completed a PhD in clinical pharmacy at the University of Bath and then worked for Lloydspharmacy/Celesio in business development and operational management where she worked with primary and secondary care healthcare partners, academics and patients to test new ways of providing complex care to patients with cystic fibrosis.
Bettina then joined the NHS at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust where she was Deputy Chief Pharmacist and Medication Safety Officer, working with colleagues inside and outside the hospital to improve medication safety.

In 2014, Bettina joined the South West Academic Health Science Network (SW AHSN), one of 15 national innovation and improvement networks. She was later appointed to Clinical Director as the SW AHSN. During her time at the SWHAN, Bettina was leading the improvement and patient safety work at the AHSN, including building a large-scale regional quality improvement capability development programme and supporting regional teams in improving their safety culture. She is also leading the development of patients as improvement partners by offering QI training programmes to members of the public.

Since February 2019, Bettina as been working as an independent Senior Healthcare Consultant. Working with NHS and non-NHS clients, Bettina specialises in governance, safety, quality improvement, leading change and developing strategies. She teaches quality improvement and patient safety concepts.

In 2020, she joined the Board of Trustees of East Devon Citizens Advice.

Bettina lives in Devon with her husband and young son and enjoys everything that the beautiful countryside has to offer in the South West.
