Ana Llewellyn is a GenerationQ Fellow and Nurse Director at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

Ana was seconded to Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB in August 2019 after Maternity Services were placed in Special Measures. Ana was responsible for leading the Maternity Improvement Programme until being appointed as the Nurse Director in April 2020.  She now works as part of a triumvirate team leading an integrated primary and secondary care service in Bridgend.

Ana’s earlier roles include being an Associate Director of Nursing/Divisional Nurse - Mental Health and Learning Disabilities where she led a programme to remodel adult mental health inpatient and crisis services at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and the development of a divisional quality and patient safety dashboard at the health board.

Prior to that Ana worked as the Mental Health Performance Improvement Manager at NHS Wales Delivery Unit.

Ana aspires to create a culture of quality improvement in the health board and is interested in how she can facilitate that improvement through others rather than by leading improvement initiatives herself. She is passionate about improving staff experience.

She is particularly interested in motivating others and system leadership: ‘Given my professional background as a mental health nurse, I am interested in people, psychology, motivation and I will bring this particular lens to the group thinking of the fellowship’.

She hopes that the range of components of the GenerationQ fellowship will further enhance her interest in system leadership and its potential to drive quality improvement. ‘I have a significant interest in coaching and ensuring that I lead in a way that maximises the potential in others. I believe that people are our greatest asset.’
