Biography

Aidan Ward is a student of cybernetics in organisations and social systems. I am convening a transcontextual group of people from different walks of life to observe the interactive behaviour of healthcare systems. There are many cybernetic reasons why healthcare will not reform from the inside or by transformation programmes. This part of my work is with the International Bateson Institute in Stockholm. I was diagnosed as T2 diabetic two years ago and my journey as a “patient” has been a very educational comedy of errors.

I have published in different domains: a book on the dynamics of trust in business organisations; a chapter on questions business schools don’t ask; a chapter in the Cambridge Handbook of Institutional Investment and Fiduciary Duty, and recently a chapter on transformation in the public sector. I ran a social enterprise to give financial coaching to people who could not afford to maintain their own homes, and another to develop community entrepreneurial activity. I am part of a project to develop alternatives and antidotes to school called Wild Routes.
