  • Hi all,

I just wanted to share with you that Greener AHP week will take place from Monday 22nd-Friday 26th April.

This Greener AHP week is an opportunity to:

    • share projects and ideas for AHPs to get involved
    • raise awareness of the links between health and climate change, the NHS net zero ambition, and the shifts required to build a Greener NHS…

  • Good morning QI folk,

I’ve had a question from someone who is planning to implement a change in clinical practice who would like to make it a better project by using QI methods.

Where’s are good places to start, and what resources would you recommend?

    Thanks for your help!

    Jo

    • I’d advise them to get in touch with their service or quality improvement team and ask them for some support.

      • Yes! They are likely to help with sharing results as well.

And if there’s not a QI team available?

    • My first question will be if they have any QI training to start with. If so, I will start from having a baseline measurement of specific quality (safety, effectiveness, efficiency, equity, person-centredness and sustainability) that they are trying to improve. I will then move on to appreciative enquiry with the clinical team and patients, process…Read more

    • Hi Jo,

They may be interested to take a look at our open access SusQI resources – https://www.susqi.org/
There is a step by step guide (4 steps – set goals, study the system, design improvement and measure impact) with resources for each section. Consideration across the sustainable value equation (clinical, financial, social and environmental…Read more

      • This is a great website, thanks for sharing. Are you involved with Greener AHPs week in April? Looks like lots of crossover with what SusQI does.

      • Hi Jo,

Great – I’m glad it will be useful for you.

Yes my colleague Ben (Sustainable healthcare delivery lead/AHP lead) has been involved – he works closely with Jacqueline Gordon (Clinical Fellow in Sustainability, Greener NHS) – please let me know if you would like me to connect you with Ben and/or Jackie.

You may have already seen a…Read more

    • Hi Jo,
I will get in touch with the QI team if the hospital has one, they are very good, at least where I work there is a QI team.
Another option could be to meet with key stakeholders and find a common problem that you want to focus on and do a brainstorming with them.
Once you know what the problem is and what you want to change, it will be much…Read more

      • Yes, you should say you won an award! Well done.

But clearly we are going to be interested in what you won the award for- would you like to share in a blog post? Or just tell us a bit more about it here.

    • Hi Jo, yes I can do that or maybe I can share a link with my project, so I don’t have to type a lot :D. 😉

    • Hi Rachel,

Welcome to this group, great to have you join. Have you also followed us on X/twitter @AHPQI?

It would be great for the group if you could introduce yourself- are you new to QI or has this been something you’ve been doing for a while?

  • Our monthly Liberating Structures user group meet-up is coming up in one week – on Thursday March 7th, 12-1pm.

Join us for a ‘Wild Tea Party’ where we’ll be trying out two different ways to do this structure online. Wild Tea is often used as an icebreaker or energiser in meetings and it’s a great one to add to your repertoire.

    The meet-up is h…Read more
