Many thanks to everyone who was able to join us for the Liberating Structures user group meet-up last week – we’ll be sending the slides to everyone who registered soon.
Lovely to read people’s comments: “so engaging and great chance to try out Liberating Structures we don’t have experience of in a safe space”; “This is the only space where I can practice these tools with a wide range of other colleagues in healthcare.”
If you came along, please can you complete the short feedback survey, if you’ve not done so already: https://survey.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eP6Lh3lhC6KKVeK

In July we have a meeting for us all to plan out the second half the year, so if you think you might want to (co-) lead a session, do come along. Register here: https://q.health.org.uk/event/liberating-structures-user-group-the-second-half-of-2022/
(You might want to try out a new structure – or practice one you already know, in advance of a real-world session using it. You could even use the group to gather valuable feedback around a challenge you have).

Last Thursday 33 of us tried our hands at ‘Helping Heuristics’ and ‘Generative Relationships STAR’. It was fun to be trying out two structures that the facilitators had never used – or even seen – before.

I’ve attached the Zoom slide of the S.T.A.R. created from everyone’s scores on Separateness, Tuning, Action and Reason. I’ve tried to turn those results into heat-map table too – for clarity (I hope!) – also attached.
The STAR created from everyone’s accumulated scores seems to broadly suggest that the ‘Reason’ (ie purpose) of the groups/teams people were thinking about is largely pretty strong.
‘Tuning’ (sense-making together), by contrast, seems to be the weakest of the four. Something that can be remedied by using structures like: Wise Crowds; Troika Consulting; Agreement-Certainty Matrix; Heard, Seen, Respected
‘Separateness’ (ie diversity of voices) certainly has plenty of room for improvement too. Any group wanting to increase that could try structures like Conversation Café; Shift & Share; What, So What, Now What? and perhaps a non-LS one called Conversations of Interdependence.
