The latest development from work in Scotland on video consultations
New virtual group therapy platform a ‘game-changer’ for Scottish healthcare
The new feature, which is available for use across local health boards, social care services, and the wider public sector, enables providers to host ‘virtual clinics’ with up to 30 patients.New virtual group therapy platform a ‘game-changer’ for Scottish healthcare
Thanks for sharing Maimie. This is interesting as we have one group who are using the Attend Anywhere new groups functionality but with mixed feedback. The anonymisation of patient names is definitely a positive, but the drawbacks include
– patients can’t turn off cameras until the meeting starts
– limit of 30 attendees
– no chat function
– poor sound quality/volume
I understand from my colleague @marcbeswickahp that these drawbacks are being worked on and there will be solutions coming. Co-production with patients and staff is driving so many improvements.
This is fascinating @maimie-thompson!
Are you involved with this project? Sounds like something that could benefit a lot of people!
Thanks! Yes. I am currently part of the Technology Enabled Team who are lading on this in Scotland – great set of people. And I was also involved when it got going in Highland back in 2017/18 led by Clare Morrison @clareupnorth – also part of Q Foundation

Done around 1.4million calls in Scotland some 40 million patient miles saved. If you have any insights or learning we would love to hear from you. Thanks for reaching out.
Great to see this development Maime and what can be enabled through virtual clinics.
Thanks, Shane.
