Hi all! I wanted to update you on what we are up to behind the scenes, and next steps.

Evidence 4 QI started life as a Q Exchange project back in 2019. The formal ‘project’ officially ended in September 2021. The vision is to help underpin quality improvement with knowledge, evidence and best practice so that we don’t reinvent the wheel. Here is a video that we used to share our vision for the project with QI teams: https://youtu.be/-BDAPtOijRg Our project ‘report’ from November 2020 when the Q funding programme closed is here, and this gives you a taster or some of the work that we did: https://youtu.be/qppo0pjYqJ8 You can follow us on twitter @Evidence4QI

We have had a fantastic journey so far, building relationships with teams across the country through library and knowledge specialists, looking at how they (can) support QI. The energy and enthusiasm has been infectious and it’s been a truly enjoyable community to be part of. In terms of meetings, for the last couple of years we ran monthly meetings for the wider team (about 50 librarians), and our steering group met fortnightly.

As you may be aware Q has recently announced potential funding for Q Special Interest Groups, of which we are one, and we would like to apply for funding to take the project to the next stage of our evolution. We think that the next stage of our journey – now that we have librarians and knowledge specialist friends on board – is to focus on the QI community.

To achieve this in the last month we have doubled the size of our steering group which leads the strategy and planning for the group to 13 to increase the QI representation. We now have 6 librarians/knowledge specialists and 7 QI representatives from all across the country and from different healthcare organisations leading this work, and co-creating our strategy and plan for the next stage of our work together.

We would love your ideas and thoughts on what you think we should do to ‘convert’ the QI community to using and sharing knowledge and evidence in QI! Please do comment or get in touch if you have any ideas, or would like to join the steering group, or be added to the wider SIG mailing list.

I should apologise, due to the limitations of technology on the Q platform we do not tend to use this page and instead meet via MS Teams or Zoom, share documents on google documents and MS Teams and chat via email, twitter or WhatsApp groups! We hope we will be able to consolidate some of this in the next phase of the work!

Thank you for your ongoing support and enthusiasm!

    • Hey @andrea-gibbons it’s really nice to hear all that! Super interesting work 🙂

It’s absolutely fine if the Q website is not the convening place for this group. I’m happy to offer a hand if you need other sorts of SIG support that are out-of-website 🙂
