My business partner, Angela Hobbs and myself have been developing a prototype training programme to deliver the EBC Toolkit and we have added this idea to the Q Exchange, the title of the proposal is ‘Building a Training Academy to deliver the EBC Toolkit’.

EBC refers to the Engineering Better Care Toolkit, developed by Professor John Clarkson and his team at the University of Cambridge. It has been warmly received and implemented by Q Members, healthcare practitioners and policy fellows at the Royal Academy of Engineering, which has been really encouraging and positive. At the launch of the Toolkit in January this year, several of the participants asked when training and guidance on using the toolkit would be available and this is the challenge and opportunity we have responded to. Working with Cambridge, we wish to take the Toolkit forward, building an interactive online training platform and a live workshop programme to enable everyone within the healthcare community and beyond to benefit from a modular learning approach to ensure that each user can achieve the best results and value from the Toolkit.

The Toolkit can be applied at multiple levels and we are focused on gaining feedback to ensure we meet the needs of the audience we seek to serve.

The Academy will be designed as a membership organisation, a community from which Q members and other healthcare professionals can engage in discussion on innovation in healthcare, efficiency and effectiveness, quality implementation, process development and shared learning methodologies.
