Hello everybody. I have been tasked with creating virtual QI training and I have been asked to utilise MS Teams. It seems that Zoom seems to be quite popular amongst members – is there a particular reason? Has anyone experience of using MS Teams to set up and deliver virtual training? As part of face to face QI training I would usually use a variety of games to make it interactive, fun and get the key messages across (Mr Potato head, Bananas etc). Any tips on how this can be done well virtually?

    • Hi Donna, we’re starting to do quite a bit of virtual training. Our first level training is very much ‘presented’ with a moderator for the chat doing a lot of engagement. For our next level we’re using zoom, mainly because it’s easier to swap between who is presenting and between powerpoint/you tube etc. and the ability to have breakout rooms. We’re using quite a few videos at the moment to break it up a bit and liberating structures are great for being able to engage people in a different (virtual!) way. We’re still looking for some exercises (games!) that people can do on-line… the 5S App was great and an accidental find!

    • Hi Donnna, we have used Zoom for most of our delivery but lately have had to switch to Teams as this seems to be the platform of choice for most trusts. You can still use breakout rooms within teams by setting up new rooms. You can also use polls. We use Miro too which is a very interactive tool to use for demonstrating items such as process maps, fishbones, driver diagrams and we have even converted mr potato head to a virtual version using Miro. there are costs associated with it but you can sign up for a free account to see what they have and play around with templates etc
