Interested in the ‘Quiet Revolution’ in Quality Improvement – around complexity, burnout and the shift from Safety-I to Safety-II?
This is the deep transformation that brings us new practices like Appreciative Inquiry, Learning from Excellence and more…
Join Andrew Smaggus and Suzette Woodward in February.
It should be a fabulous Zoom session – don’t miss it!

    • I think this will be a very interesting zoom. Not just relevant to improvement, I ran a workshop about complexity and wellbeing at the Network of Wellbeing Conference earlier this year and found it was relevant across a mixed audience.

      • Hi Jane,

Yes, I have a feeling this could be a particularly interesting Zoom – getting into the deep paradigm shift that is the move from Safety-I to Safety-II (or at least a much-needed rebalancing).

The shift from the failing ‘modernist’ New Public Management (that Toby Lowe talks about), the opening up to complexity-awareness – they’re all part of this epochal change imho…

Anyone else s spring to mind who might appreciate being asked to join this Zoom?

What were your key points in the workshop you ran about complexity and wellbeing, Jane? Is there a short version?!

PS If you don’t have access to ‘BMJ Quality & Safety Journal’ and would really like to read Andrew Smaggus’ recent article there, please e-mail me to request it: matthew.mezey@health.org.uk

    • A great idea. If health cab truly get to grips with he thinking behind this then they are on the road to transforming one of the most fundamental mindsets that plague the industry today, and prevent it from moving forward.

      • It is quite a big ask, isn’t it?! Yet there seems to be a fair bit of interest; 80+ people already signed up for it! (Many of them thanks to Helen Bevan tweeting about it enthusiastically!).

I’m really looking forward to it!
