Can anyone point me in the direction of a resource which provides numbers for
the environmental costs of investigations such as x-rays and ultrasound
scans. I’m trying to demonstrate the environmental costs of a patient pathway
and the financial/social/environmental savings of cutting out the unnecessary
appointments and investigations. I’ve been using the SDUs carbon hotspots
for the appointment data but cannot find anything on the environmental costs
of x-rays and ultrasounds. Was hoping for something like X CO2e per investigation

  Sounds like a really good thing to be doing. My guess is there would be a greater cost for all reasons in getting the patient there ie appointment letter, travel, parking, time etc than from the energy use of the Xray/ultrasound itself.
  I did see this though https://www.bir.org.uk/media-centre/corporate-news/2018/february/canon-medical-goes-carbon-zero/ – so Canon must have worked it out and wonder if they could help further

  This sounds like a great piece of work and something I have started looking into. I have been looking at different companies and havent found much.. Be really interested to share and work together if you want to?
