    I’m just exploring the similarities between a ‘quality circle’ and an ‘adaptive space’, or one form of an adaptive space. All part of my ‘back to basics’ research.

      I guess Adaptive Space can be an umbrella for so many things – from Liberating Structures to Design Thinking to Labs to… And I’m pretty sure when Mary spoke with Q that we talked about Communities of Practice with her too, and she agreed it was a good example.
      The next step might be around working what the the strengths and weaknesses of different kinds of Adaptive Space are, perhaps?
      This might be something the Dialogical OD people are already beginning to do…? There were emerging moves in this direction in the big Bushe and Marshak book.
      Actually, I really like this comparison of 20 different ‘Adaptive Spaces’ approaches (?), using the lens of Cultural Theory: https://www.greenbridges.nl/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/SSRN-id2382191.pdf
      It seeks to distinguish between Adaptive Methods that only honour one or two of the organisational archetypes vs those that honour all 4 – and are thus likely to be more sustainable and effective, less brittle.
      I hope there will be more research that gets deep into the Adaptive Space tools….
      But, hey, I guess we’re still needing to prove we even need to be using Adaptive Spaces full stop, at this stage! 😉
