    Dear All,

Radiotherapy Quality Special Interest Group just published our Q exchange idea, “Using Electronic Patient Reported Data to improve oncology services” to the Q exchange portal. You can find the idea at https://q.health.org.uk/idea/2019/using-electronic-patient-reported-data-to-improve-oncology-services/

We would love to hear your feedback and thank you in advance for helping us to improve the idea further!

    Best wishes,
    Isabel

    • Hi Isabel,
Welcome to the group. I thought it was a really well structured idea. I wondered if you could share a bit more about how you would weave in the coproduction process?
      Best wishes
      Anna

      • Hi Anna,

This is our first time experience in coproduction so we are navigating and learning as we develop the idea. I don’t have a ‘process model’ in mind but from our previous meeting, it has been an eye opening experience when we have direct dialogue, listen to the patient’s stories and looking at service from the lens of patients, we have found the little things really matter the most and reinforced the need and direction travelling towards personalised care.

Would you be able to elaborate more on ‘weave in the coproduction process’? We need to design the process to be patient driven and I think it would need lots of nudging in the process (but we don’t know what and how yet) and emphasizing benefit to patients / carers would be key. Would love to have input and idea from everyone.

        BW,
        Isabel

    • Dear Isabel,

There are some great ways to help get coproduction working at the centre of any improvement programme. One of the most effective in my own experience is experience based co-design (EBCD). There are also inspiring examples from practice. The Health Foundation Scaling Up team CHOICE led by the amazing Dr Helen Cullington, is designing an app for people using cochlear implants and they have a group of patients that helped to designed the app and offer thoughts about what functions it has, then beta tested the prototype and feedback, and are continuing ongoing support. Helen also used twitter to crowd source citizen thoughts to key questions.
      Best wishes
      Anna

      • Hi Anna,
Just came out from a zoom call about EBCD by @catdawo, really great session sharing her experience in EBCD and I have picked up a few useful tips and hope to refine our proposal!

    • Brilliant! That sounds perfect! It’d be great to use this method. If I can help in any way just let me know.
      A 😊

      • Hi Anna, @catdwo talked about the importance of collecting qualitative patient reported data and colleagues shared the same frustration using results from NCPES. I would really appreciate if you can have a look of our Q exchange proposal https://q.health.org.uk/idea/2019/using-electronic-patient-reported-data-to-improve-oncology-services/ and advise on how we can strengthen the the voice of patients.

We have 2 patients in the project group currently and think it would definitely worth get more patients to test the prototype for us.

If you have any suggestions or questions please feel free to post to comment box so the project group can refine things together.

        Bw,
        Isabel
