Hi I have read the workshop notes with interest as someone who lives with persistent pain for many years and worked within self-care/management lay-led field. Many points appear that are great to see, but more pain medication is only one part of the solution. Developing appropriate ‘for me’ resilience tools from self-care/management, ensures that ‘I am in control’, and this is provided by a mixed method of approaches. I know that this is not new as it has been tried and well tested for many years within the third sector and if pain clinic’s worked closer to the third sector who provide peer-led resilience strategies this is both cost effective and more timely.

    • Hi Cheryl, my experience with a user-led charity for people with MSK conditions recognised the benefits of ‘being in control’ of our health condition using self-care/management. Being empowered in this way and sharing peer experiences offer greater informed choice in seeking to deal with mental/physical health issues.

    • Hi Cheryl,

Couldn’t agree more. Resilience is a skill that can be learnt and it does look different for every individual.
