Thanks Tracy. A short introduction: I think that mental health is a growing issue especially in young people. My interest is in early detection and prevention of the situation getting worse. Two national initiatives that I support in this area are Patient Self Management (PSM) and Social Prescribing, both of which address mental health in a number of ways. Two Q Exchange ideas that I was involved with illustrate what I think could be done to make a difference to the current mental health issue. I will continue to support these initiatives and will be promoting them during my time with this SIG. The two Q Exchange ideas can be found at: https://q.health.org.uk/idea/the-power-of-three-discovering-developing-and-connecting-young-adults-16-24-years/ and https://q.health.org.uk/idea/community-support/

    • Thanks for your introduction @thomasjohnrose and for sharing the ideas you developed through Q Exchange. The Lab this year will focus peoples experiences of common mental health problems and persistent pain, but I’m sure there is much to be learned from self-management and social prescribing work, and prevention and early detection will be key themes. I hope you meet some great new connections in this area of work and look forward to being in touch. Tracy
